With international cricket calendars under increasing strain from political and security developments across South Asia, Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his team’s scheduled tour of Pakistan while backing the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to take the right call.
Speaking to the media, Litton Das said the situation in Pakistan was being closely monitored and that the decision to proceed with the five-match T20I series ultimately rests with the boards.
“Everyone knows why cricket in Pakistan is currently off,” he said, referring to the recent military escalation between Pakistan and India which forced the suspension of the PSL and the IPL.
“I think the BCB can take a better call about the Pakistan tour. The cricket boards will discuss with each other to take the series forward. If the BCB feels that the condition there is favourable, we will definitely go there to play the series.” Litton Das said.
Litton Das was also set to take part in PSL 10 before an untimely injury ruled him out of the Karachi Kings’ team. He is expected to return to the country after being named captain of Bangladesh for the five-match T20I series.
The series is expected to serve as crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. However, with tensions still fresh, all eyes are now on diplomatic channels and security assessments.
The PCB has remained optimistic about hosting Bangladesh as part of its commitment to revive home international fixtures. PSL is set to resume on May 17, and the PCB will hope a successful event can ease any remaining concerns.
However, with the PSL X final set for May 25, the dates for the Bangladesh series will have to be adjusted.
If the series proceeds as planned in Pakistan, it will mark another positive step in the country’s campaign to normalize cricket at home.
For now, the cricketing world waits for the green light, with Pakistan’s cricket diplomacy once again being tested in the boardroom before it’s played out on the pitch.
