Pakistan’s javelin superstar Arshad Nadeem has revealed his mindset as he returns to the global stage once again, aiming to enhance his reputation as one of the finest athletes in the world.
With a new season underway and a packed international calendar ahead, the Olympian has shifted the spotlight inward, declaring that his only real opponent is the man in the mirror.
“I’m not competing with others; my only competition is with myself. My focus is on giving my best, and when I do that, I know I’m capable of winning gold,” Arshad said.
The 28-year-old thrower, widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s finest athletes, has his sights set on a trio of career-defining goals in 2025. He’s targeting gold medals at the World Championships, Asian Games, and the Diamond League — the only ones still missing from his growing résumé.
“My goal is to win gold medals in the events where I haven’t yet — the World Championships, Asian Games, and Diamond League.”
Arshad Nadeem’s rise has been as inspiring as it has been dominant. From humble beginnings in Khanewal to a historic and landmark throw at the 2024 Olympics — a feat that made him the first Pakistani to win gold in an athletic event — Arshad has redefined what’s possible for Pakistani athletes on the global stage.
Soon, he’ll lead Pakistan’s campaign at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27 to 31, before shifting focus to the World Championships and select Diamond League events. While others may focus on marquee rivalries — particularly with India’s Neeraj Chopra — Arshad continues to set his own narrative, rooted in quiet confidence and relentless self-improvement.
As the countdown begins for a crucial season in his career, Arshad’s message is simple but powerful: gold is the goal, but the journey starts within.
