A notification by the Punjab government claiming that all public and private schools across the province will remain closed from May 22 to August 17, 2025, for summer vacations has been circulating on social media.
However, the document has turned out to be fake. The document, appearing to be issued by the School Education Department and bearing a forged signature and official formatting, was stamped with a large red “FAKE” overlay.
The notice falsely stated that the vacations would begin on May 22 and last until mid-August, prompting confusion among students, parents, and educational institutions.
However, the Punjab government had earlier announced the actual schedule for summer vacations. According to Secretary Schools Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo, the summer break for all public and private schools and colleges in the province will begin on June 1 and end on August 9, 2025.
Wattoo also noted that the announced schedule might be adjusted slightly depending on weather conditions. “If heat levels become unusually high, vacations may begin a week earlier,” he said.
