Punjab to Launch Electric Buses on Six New Routes

The Punjab government has delivered 11 green electric buses to Narowal as part of efforts to improve public transportation with affordable and environmentally friendly travel options.

According to officials, the electric bus service is expected to begin operating in July, with buses initially running on six routes across the district.

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) secretary said the fare has been fixed at Rs. 20 per trip. The buses will operate between Narowal and several surrounding areas, including Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Qila Ahmadabad, Qila Kalar Wala and Badomalhi. A dedicated intra-city bus service is also planned.

Officials said each electric bus can travel approximately 80 kilometers on a single charge, providing an energy-efficient alternative to conventional public transport.

The Punjab government also plans to add more electric buses to Narowal in the future to further expand the public transport network and provide residents with affordable, modern and eco-friendly commuting facilities.
