US Bans Visas for Indian Travel Agents

The U.S. State Department announced on Monday that it is implementing visa restrictions on individuals associated with India-based travel agencies accused of intentionally assisting illegal migration to the United States.

According to spokesperson Tammy Bruce, an undisclosed number of individuals affiliated with these agencies are facing visa bans under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The decision was based on information gathered by the U.S. mission in India. The identities of those targeted have not been made public, as is customary with such sanctions.

“We will continue to enforce visa restrictions on agency owners, senior executives, and key personnel involved in human smuggling operations,” Bruce stated. However, she did not elaborate on the specific methods used by the agencies to support unlawful migration.

This action aligns with broader efforts by the U.S. government to tighten immigration controls and remove undocumented individuals residing in the country.

In recent months, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi has used its social media platforms to caution Indian travelers about overstaying their visas, emphasizing that doing so could lead to deportation and a permanent entry ban.
