Inauguration Date for Murree Road Underpass Revealed

The Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday, as city officials reviewed final preparations during a meeting held on Wednesday.

According to a Capital Development Authority (CDA) press release, construction work connecting Srinagar Highway to Murree Road has been completed. Horticulture and landscaping efforts are currently underway, with tree plantations and beautification projects nearing completion.

An urban forest is also planned alongside the underpass to help reduce environmental pollution. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed that all remaining work be completed ahead of the inauguration.

The meeting also discussed broader infrastructure developments, including the expansion of Faizabad Interchange, for which the tender has been issued.

Officials reported that traffic issues at 11 of the city’s 20 most congested points have been resolved, while work continues on the remaining nine to improve traffic flow.

Renovation and beautification of major roads are also in progress, including the installation of LED and decorative lights, kerb stones, and fresh paintwork. Meanwhile, plans are moving forward for the underpass at Shaheen Chowk and for modern lighting and tree planting across Margalla Road, Murree Road, Faisal Avenue, and the Diplomatic Enclave.
