The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a key step toward enhancing Islamabad’s tourism landscape by approving consultancy services for three major recreational projects: a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system.
In its 75th meeting on Tuesday, the Development Working Party (DWP) of the CDA approved PC-II level projects for hiring consultants to conduct feasibility studies and prepare detailed designs for all three initiatives.
According to an official statement, the approved consultancy services include:
- Theme Park: Feasibility study and design services approved at a cost of Rs. 206 million.
- Ferris Wheel: Feasibility and design services to be carried out for Rs. 61.8 million.
- Cable Car Project: Consultancy approved at an estimated cost of Rs. 197.76 million.
Officials highlighted that Islamabad, now home to over two million people, faces a growing demand for quality recreational and entertainment facilities. As a prominent domestic and international tourist destination, the city is seen as ripe for such developments.
The feasibility studies and design work are expected to be completed within six months. The final decision to execute these projects will depend on the outcome of the consultancy reports and subsequent approvals.

This is a good imitative. It will add beauty to Islamabad and generate revenue and quality of time for public. It must be given to a good company to construction with good safety features. Such entertainment must be built across Pakistan at all major cities.
‘…a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system… but no drinking water, no government-run clinics and schools in all areas, no affordable public transport, no public parking places, no security, and no infrastructure. Look at our priorities.
This city does not need a theme park leave Islamabad alone stop destroying Islamabad you’ve destroyed most of the greenery of Islamabad. There are plenty of parks in Rawalpindi. This city needs serenity, green landscapes instead of theme parks.
Islamabad is Not a commercial city,it’s a green oasis, unlike any other capital. Spend that money on saving the environment which is a need of the hour. We need water . Even if you all spend another decade developing islo, wheres the water??STOP WASTING MONEY!!!RESERVE WATER DURING RAIN!!!
