Azhar Mahmood’s Tenure as Pakistan Assistant Coach Comes to an End

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its team management for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with assistant coach Azhar Mahmood notably missing from the lineup.

Azhar Mahmood, who was previously considered a strong candidate for the head coach position, was overlooked in favor of Islamabad United’s Mike Hesson, who was appointed head coach earlier this month. Mahmood had publicly expressed his interest in the top job, stating his intention to apply, but ultimately did not make the final cut for any coaching role.

The PCB has made several changes to the coaching staff. Former Australian pacer Ashley Noffke has been named bowling coach, while Hanif Malik will serve as batting coach. Mohammad Masroor and Cliffe Deacon retain their positions as fielding coach and physio, respectively. Imranullah has been appointed as strength and conditioning coach, and Naveed Akram Cheema will act as team manager.
