The Punjab University administration has announced that all 27 university hostels will be completely vacated during the upcoming summer vacation. According to the official notification, hostels will remain closed from June 6 to August 27.
This year, the university has introduced stricter measures, stating that only international students will be allowed to stay in the hostels during the summer break. Students in their final semester who are working on their theses must obtain formal permission from the university to remain on campus. Similarly, departments that plan to continue academic or research activities during the vacation period must seek approval for any students needing accommodation.
In the past, students were often allowed to stay in the hostels at their own discretion during the summer holidays. However, the new policy aims to ensure that all hostels are vacated, except for those with special permission, likely to facilitate maintenance and security.
The university administration has urged all students to comply with the new guidelines and make necessary arrangements for alternative accommodation during the summer closure.
