Police Will Now Conduct Raids on Homes of E-Challan Defaulters

In a significant move, the Punjab government has empowered district police to take direct action against individuals who have failed to pay e-challans.

Under the new law, lists of defaulters have been provided to police in all districts, allowing them to conduct raids at the residences of those who haven’t cleared their dues.

Previously, only the traffic police were authorized to stop such vehicles on the roads. Now, district police can intervene as well.

According to sources, over Rs. 6 billion in unpaid e-challans is pending across Punjab. Authorities have also announced that defaulters will be denied access to government-related services such as vehicle transfers, file approvals, and registrations.
