With Eid-ul-Adha less than a week away, the demand for professional butchers in Islamabad has sharply increased as residents gear up for the ritual slaughter of animals.
Although citizens have already bought their sacrificial animals, a large number are still in search of suitable livestock. The rising demand for professional butchers has led to a noticeable surge in slaughtering charges compared to previous years.
A local butcher from Islamabad’s I-10 sector explained that Eid-ul-Adha marks their busiest season, with families prioritizing skilled butchers for quality meat cutting. He stated that cow slaughtering on the first day of Eid is being charged at Rs. 25,000.
The rate drops to Rs. 20,000 on the second day, and between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000 on the third, depending on availability and demand. For goat and sheep, the charges range from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 7,000.
While preparations for Eid are in full swing, citizens have raised concerns over the high prices of both animals and butchers. Many are struggling to book professional butchers in time and are considering turning to seasonal butchers, who, based on past experiences, are said to be just as capable.
Despite the challenges, most residents manage to find someone for the sacrifice.
