Pictures of the suspect responsible for murdering 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf in Islamabad have surfaced on social media. The culprit is Umar Hayat, who goes by the name “Kaka” on TikTok, promoting himself as a wannabe “tough guy” gangster.
Islamabad Police arrested Umar Hayat just 20 hours after the incident, tracing his location and apprehending him in Faisalabad after he had fled Islamabad. Investigators credit CCTV footage and advanced technology for his swift capture. “Kaka” confessed to the crime during interrogation and claimed to be a friend of the victim.
Islamabad’s police chief, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, confirmed that 17-year-old Sana Yousaf was shot dead after repeatedly rejecting advances from Umar Hayat. According to the inspector general, the murder was driven by a series of rejections. The accused had tried to approach Sana several times, including multiple attempts to contact her on May 29—her birthday—and even visited her home.
“The suspect was angry over being ignored. She had refused to talk to him or accept his proposals,” said IG Rizvi. Sana was killed around 5 PM on June 2 by two gunshots. The murder weapon and her iPhone were recovered from Kaka’s possession.
Sana Yousaf was a prominent social media personality, with over 800,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 500,000 on Instagram. Her content featured lip-sync videos in Urdu, Hindi, and Pashto. Her final posts, shared just hours before her death, showed her celebrating her birthday with friends at a local restaurant in Islamabad.
