Honest Mother Brings Back Criminal Son Who Escaped From Jail

Following the mass escape from Karachi’s Malir Jail, a mother personally returned her fugitive son to authorities after he fled during the chaos.

According to police, after the recent earthquake damaged the jail and 213 prisoners escaped, of whom 78 have been rearrested, and one was killed. One of the escaped inmates reached home, his mother not only counseled him but also took responsibility and immediately brought him back to the jail under police supervision.

Outside the jail, the mother handed her son over to police, pleading with folded hands that her son had made a mistake and asking officers to show mercy, as she had brought him back herself. Her actions have been widely praised on social media, with many calling her an example of honesty and integrity in society.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon confirmed that most of the escapees are drug addicts and that the escape happened through the jail gate, not by breaking the wall. The incident occurred after prisoners were moved to an open courtyard for safety during the earthquake. Frontier Constabulary personnel tried to stop the escapees, firing warning shots, which resulted in one prisoner’s death and injuries to several FC personnel.

Authorities continue to urge the remaining fugitives to surrender voluntarily, promising leniency for those who do so, while dedicated teams work to apprehend those still at large. The mother’s courageous act stands out as a beacon of responsibility and honesty amid the ongoing search for the escapees.
