Motorway Police Issues 8-Point Advisory for Eid

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued an eight-point travel advisory to help manage the sharp increase in traffic on motorways and national highways following the Eid holidays.

Motorway Police 8-Point Advisory

  • Vehicle Check: Inspect your vehicle’s engine oil, water, tire pressure, brakes, and headlights before starting your journey.
  • Seat Belts: Ensure all passengers are wearing seat belts; motorcyclists must wear helmets.
  • Speed Limits: Strictly observe posted speed limits and avoid overspeeding, especially during peak traffic hours.
  • Safe Distance: Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to allow for sudden stops.
  • Lane Discipline: Stick to your lane and follow all road markings and signals.
  • Rest Breaks: For long journeys, take a break every two hours to avoid fatigue and never drive when drowsy.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Keep emergency contact numbers, a first-aid kit, and extra fuel handy. In case of trouble, call the NHMP helpline at 130.
  • Report Violations: Passengers should report overloading, overcharging, or reckless driving to the NHMP helpline.

The police have increased personnel deployment and intensified patrolling on key routes to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Road safety briefings are being conducted at all toll plazas, and live traffic updates are available via FM Radio 88.6 to help travelers avoid congestion.

The NHMP has also launched a public awareness campaign through social media and electronic billboards, emphasizing that responsible driving and adherence to safety guidelines are crucial for a safe Eid journey.
