The father of Umar Hayat (also known as Kaka), the main suspect in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf, has spoken out for the first time since his son’s arrest. His statement, filled with pain and disbelief, has sparked intense reactions across Pakistan.
Umar Hayat was arrested after a viral video linked him to the brutal killing of 17-year-old Sana Yousaf in Islamabad. The case quickly gained national attention, with social media users demanding swift justice. In the interview, Umar’s father, Amjad, a retired 16th-grade government officer, denied all allegations against his son. He insisted that Umar was not involved in drugs, had no history of inappropriate relationships, and was not the type to commit such a crime.
Amjad described the moment he learned about the murder, saying he only found out through a colleague who showed him the viral video. He admitted that, after seeing the footage, he recognized his son but still struggled to believe Umar could be responsible. “My heart does not accept that my son could do this,” he said, his voice trembling.
Despite his disbelief, Amjad made it clear that if his son is found guilty, he should face the full force of the law. “If he is the culprit, he must be punished according to the law. I appeal for justice, not just for my son, but for the innocent girl who lost her life,” he stated, hands folded in a plea to authorities.
Amjad also revealed the personal toll the tragedy has taken on his family. Having already lost one son and his wife years ago, he now lives alone, devastated by the possibility that his only remaining son could be a murderer. “This house is eating me alive. I have lost everything,” he said.
