Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that permanent headmasters will be appointed in 35,000 government schools across the province, ending years of leadership gaps in the education system.
The move is part of a major effort to improve school management and raise educational standards, as many schools have operated without permanent heads for years, which has negatively affected both discipline and academic performance.
According to the official directive, each newly appointed headmaster will receive an additional monthly allowance of Rs 10,000 as an incentive and recognition of their leadership role. The minister emphasized that strong, consistent leadership is essential for effective school administration and better learning outcomes for students.
Rana Sikandar Hayat has instructed the School Education Department to expedite the recruitment process so that schools can benefit from effective leadership as soon as possible. Education experts and stakeholders have welcomed the decision, calling it a positive step toward revitalizing public education in Punjab.
