Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has officially approved the Summer Internship Program 2025.
Set to begin on June 16, the eight-week program will host 21 university students from top institutions, including FAST, NUML, and NUST.
Before the program begins, internees will attend a two-day orientation at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), where they will learn about the Constitution, lawmaking procedures, and the functioning of Senate committees and the Secretariat.
Since taking office in March 2024, Chairman Gilani has also launched a six-week unpaid internship program. So far, over 426 students from across Pakistan have participated.
Building on this success, the Senate Secretariat is now expanding the program to include students from O and A Level schools in Islamabad. The move is part of the chairman’s broader vision to increase youth participation in democracy and develop future leaders.

It’s a great step but i didn’t get the point of taking students from only the high ranking universities what about those who can’t afford there fees and also government is also thinking that in future they’ll get internn from O and A level so this gesture clearly shows that the students of metric or FA are ignored and treated like they are inferior.
