Islamabad Sizzles as Feels-Like Temperature Hits Unbearable 50°C

The heat index in Pakistan’s capital spiked to a staggering 50°C on Friday afternoon, even though the actual temperature remained at 39°C.

Just an hour earlier, the city recorded a “feels like” temperature of 49°C, indicating a rapid intensification of heat stress for residents.

The heat index — a combination of temperature and humidity — reflects the apparent temperature experienced by the human body.

In its latest forecast, the PMD has predicted rainfall in several parts of the country, including Islamabad, starting later today. The expected showers would bring temporary relief from the oppressive conditions.

Authorities have advised the public to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours.
