Urban Flooding Expected in 12 Cities in Next 48 Hours

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued an alert warning of potential urban flooding in several regions of Pakistan over the next 48 hours due to expected heavy rainfall.

According to the NEOC advisory, southern districts of Sindh — including Sujawal, Thatta, Badin, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas — are at heightened risk.

Additionally, parts of northeastern Punjab and the Potohar region — notably Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Lahore — are also vulnerable, especially in low-lying urban areas.

Authorities have urged local administrations to remain on high alert, ensure timely drainage of rainwater, and prepare emergency response teams to deal with any potential flooding incidents.

Citizens are advised to stay updated with weather alerts, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and take necessary precautions to protect life and property.

This warning comes as monsoon activity begins to intensify across the country, with the potential to cause serious disruptions in urban infrastructure.
