The Punjab Assembly is set to approve 38 budget demands today as part of the ongoing process to pass the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2024–25.
With no opposition members present in the House, all cut motions submitted by the opposition were rejected. Not a single opposition representative attended the session.
During the proceedings, Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Rahman announced a special bonus equivalent to three months’ salary for all staff members of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat. He also extended the same bonus to the staff of the Law Department and the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in recognition of their services.
Under the supplementary budget allocations:
- The Police Department was granted Rs. 46.05 billion,
- The Excise and Taxation Department received Rs. 2.34 billion,
- The Forest Department was allocated Rs. 172.3 million,
- Rs. 461.4 million was approved for legal expenses related to motor vehicles.
The budget approval continues to move forward despite the absence of opposition voices in the House.
