The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully auctioned five sites in Islamabad for the establishment of commercial padel tennis courts, expected to generate Rs. 7.6 million in monthly revenue.
Padel tennis, a fast-growing sport combining elements of tennis and squash, is gaining traction across Pakistan.
Initially planned on a profit-sharing basis, the auction model was changed to a fixed monthly rent after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the CDA to avoid revenue-sharing models to prevent potential corruption.
Under this revised model, investors will build two padel courts at each site within 45 days. The five sites include:
- G-5 near Serena Hotel – Rs. 2.1 million/month
- F-8 – Rs. 2.1 million/month
- F-9 Park – Rs. 1.45 million/month
- G-11 – Rs. 1.1 million/month
- G-8 – Rs. 900,000/month
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and Acting Chairman Talat Mahmood Gondal praised the transparent process, calling it a step towards promoting a healthy lifestyle through public-private collaboration.
The CDA has also set up padel courts at F-6 and Diplomatic Enclave under earlier contracts and plans to auction futsal court sites soon, using the same fixed-rent approach.
