Pakistan Shaheens to Feature in Top End T20 Series in Australia

The Pakistan Cricket Board is finally turning its attention towards getting the Shaheens some much-needed experience in foreign conditions, with an action-packed few months that will take them from England’s county grounds to Australia’s tropical north.

According to sources in the local media, the Shaheens are set to tour England in July before heading straight to Australia for the Top End T20 Series in Darwin, scheduled from August 14 to 24.

Pakistan Shaheens featured in the Darwin tournament last year as well and impressed with their spirited performances against a mix of regional and international opponents. Their return this year looks highly likely, with organisers keen to bring back the Pakistani side for the second edition.

Preparations for the England leg of the tour will start early next month. A training camp has been called in Karachi from July 10, where selected Shaheens players from the ongoing Skills Development Camp will work on fitness, T20 skills, and adapting to different conditions.

The Top End T20 Series is expected to have four participating teams this year. Nepal has already officially confirmed its spot, and more announcements are likely in the coming weeks. With Darwin’s unique conditions—humid weather and lively pitches—the competition offers valuable experience for Shaheens’ players hoping to break into Pakistan’s main national side.

The Shaheens program remains a crucial development platform for Pakistan cricket but has needed attention, as it seemed to have fallen behind in modern times. The back-to-back tours of England and Australia finally underline the PCB’s commitment to keeping the player pool active year-round, especially with the next T20 World Cup cycle already underway.

If the Pakistan Shaheens confirm participation, they will be one of the headline teams in the Darwin tournament, likely attracting strong support from the Pakistani diaspora in Australia.

Full squad details and tour itineraries for both England and Australia will be announced soon, but the message is clear: Pakistan’s next generation of cricketers will be busy honing their craft on foreign soil over the next few months.
