The Government of Sindh has declared July 5 (Saturday) and July 6 (Sunday), 2025, as public holidays across the province on account of Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 A.H.).
According to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration & Coordination Department on July 1, the holidays will apply to all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government. However, essential services will remain operational.
The announcement was made by Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, and the notification has been circulated to all relevant departments for implementation.
Ashura marks a day of religious significance for Muslims, observed in remembrance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), at the Battle of Karbala.
Strict security arrangements and processions are expected across Sindh during the two days. Authorities have urged the public to observe the days with solemnity and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain peace and order.
