Vehicle Registration Services Unavailable Across Punjab

The motor vehicle registration system of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has been non-functional for the past two days, causing major inconvenience to citizens across the province.

According to Excise officials, the disruption is due to a system revamp and ongoing upgrades. The department is updating its software to reflect recent changes in tax rates, which has halted all registration-related activities temporarily.

Frustrated citizens have expressed anger over the timing, pointing out that visiting Excise offices repeatedly in the scorching heat is extremely difficult. “They should have carried out the upgrades during holidays to avoid public disruption,” one visitor said.

People visiting Excise offices in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and other cities found themselves unable to register or transfer vehicles due to the outage. Services such as issuance of number plates, ownership transfers, and tax payments have also been affected.

Director Excise has assured that the system will likely be restored by tomorrow and has urged citizens not to panic.

Until then, applicants are advised to stay updated through official channels before visiting the Excise offices.
