Karachi Fixes Rates for Graves

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to initiate the registration of all unregistered cemeteries across the city.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has directed the Director of Cemeteries to begin the registration process immediately.

According to officials, out of more than 200 cemeteries in Karachi, only 38 are currently registered with the KMC.

Mayor Wahab emphasized that the official cost of a grave has been fixed at Rs. 14,300. He warned cemetery administrations not to charge more than this approved rate and stated that strict action would be taken against those found demanding excessive fees.

A KMC spokesperson explained that the purpose of this initiative is to bring transparency, improve management, and protect citizens from financial exploitation in cemetery services.
