MG Surprises Customers With New Price of HS Trophy

Amid a wave of price hikes across the auto sector, MG Motors has announced that the MG HS Trophy will continue to be sold at Rs. 8,399,000, with the company absorbing the newly imposed 2% New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Levy instead of passing it on to customers.

The NEV tax was introduced in the federal budget 2025–26 and applies to all petrol and hybrid vehicles. While many automakers have responded by raising prices, MG has reinstated the original ex-factory price of the HS Trophy, which was first launched in January 2025.

The early bird discount offered earlier expired at the end of June, and the SUV is now available at its official launch price once again, effective July 1.

Earlier, Haval Pakistan also announced it would not increase vehicle prices and would absorb the 2% NEV Levy.  This comes as a relief for customers, especially as other manufacturers adjust their pricing in response to the new tax.

Both MG and Haval’s decisions contrast with the broader trend in the market, where rising levies have triggered fresh rounds of price hikes.
