The Board of Directors of the Public Private Partnership Authority (P3A) has given the green light to two major motorway projects aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and easing travel across Punjab.
During its 39th meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, the board approved the revised commercial structure for the Sialkot–Kharian Motorway. The 69-kilometer route will be upgraded to a six-lane road under the public-private partnership model.
The project is aligned with recommendations from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and is expected to enhance mobility and promote industrial growth in the region.
The board also approved the 117.6-kilometer Kharian–Rawalpindi Motorway. This six-lane greenfield expressway will be built under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, with an estimated cost of Rs. 202.61 billion, including Rs. 40 billion in Viability Gap Funding.
The project will be awarded through international competitive bidding. Once completed, both motorways are expected to reduce travel time and support smoother trade and passenger movement between northern and central Punjab.

Why we should support? What will b the impact of ur journalism on our country’s development and our lives?
Ahsan Iqbal kab tak Planning ka minister hai Bhol jao
Till his death.
Ask your provincial govt to make roads for you
,after all they are in power for almost 12 years since you people voted for them
Sindh government ki corruption ki waja sy sub sy musroof aur important Hyderabad to sukkar motorway kis ko yad ha????
Agree
All projects are made late to increase cost and commission and are approved again and again as nation is sleeping———
Calamity of Sargodha, we sargodian join Motorways after 50 kilometers drive, even a huge traffic comes from Bhakkar KPK, Mianwali which directly passes through Sargodha city. But we have no motorways even small city Bhagtanwala and Bhera these cities are very very much close to Motorways.
We want from Govt to join us with motorway through Kotmomin which is only 25 kilometers.
Why so much crying against Punjab ? Look at the number of users . And the ripple effect on “ deprived “ provinces .
Gujranwala K liye b kindly koi project laya jaiye
Great, Agreed with Mr Moeed. After all Gujranwala is the Division since long should be linked with pindi bahttian Muhammad Zarif Khan from Kot Ladha Regards
Sargodha to jhang, multan via tehsil sillawali bht zruri hay
Kasoor- Bahwalnagar motorway seems now almost a closed chapter.
All the projects are only for Punjab , why not for rest of country. Which is necessary Sukkur Hyderabad M6 or this one
Punjab me motorways bnaye jao, jahan traffic itna ha j aap aram sa 6 6 over ka cricket match khel lo us pr aur koi gari na guzre, ye Hippocratic federal government ha sukkur Hyderabad motorway aur Karachi northern bypass inko bnaane ka khyal nhe aata jahan average traffic 90 vehicle per minute ha ..alas…rip all three provinces….only punjab
That is becuase of corruption of Sindh government. Same politicians elected there again and again and pushing no real growth. Instead stopped Kalabagh project and Cholistan canals which would have huge benefits to country to improve food security and reduce floods.
Rest of provinces need to take initiative for the peope. For example in Sindh government, same politicians elected there again and again and pushing no real growth. Instead stopped Kalabagh project and Cholistan canals which would have huge benefits to country to improve food security and reduce floods.
Provinces should come forward for public private partnership based road projects just like these one which will also strengthen strategic movement in case of war.
Why not include Jehlum City in the Kharian–Rawalpindi Motorway ? Is Jehlum City a step-child ?
