KP Govt Allocates Rs. 364 Billion for Schools for Tech Upgrades, New Schools, and More

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has unveiled a major education reform plan with a budget allocation of Rs. 364 billion for the fiscal year 2025–26, aiming to enhance infrastructure, improve quality, and increase accessibility across the province.

New School Projects

In a press conference, Education Minister Faisal Tarakai announced that 1,500 government schools will be handed over to the private sector through a public-private partnership model. Additionally, the government will establish 200 new schools under the Elementary Education Foundation to expand access to education.

Smart Classrooms

To address educational challenges and integrate technology, Rs. 1.2 billion has been allocated for the development of smart classrooms and the construction of additional school facilities. High and higher secondary schools will be equipped with computer labs and internet access.

Minister Tarakai highlighted the lack of basic infrastructure in schools located in merged districts. To bridge this gap, the government plans to build 500 new classrooms for primary schools. All primary students will receive free textbooks, bags, and stationery, with additional support from the ongoing education card scheme.

The budget includes funding for 29 new projects and a special fund to restore 10 historic schools. The minister also announced that by the end of the year, all schools will be equipped with complete furniture.

Tarakai noted a 6% increase in teacher attendance across the province, crediting improved monitoring systems for the progress. Efforts to enroll out-of-school children will continue throughout the year as part of broader education outreach.

Tarakai said the government is committed to ensuring quality education for every child in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
