Private schools have been directed not to raise their fees by more than 5% each year, and are prohibited from collecting more than one month’s fee at a time, according to a notice from the District Education Authority Lahore.
The official letter outlines that schools must stick to the approved fee structure and are not allowed to impose any additional charges. It also makes clear that students cannot be expelled for late payment of fees.
The instructions further specify that schools cannot demand advance payments or collect fees for more than a single month in one go. Charging students for summer camps is also strictly forbidden.
Additionally, the education authority has stated that schools cannot force parents to purchase books or uniforms from specific vendors. Any school found violating these guidelines will face action under the relevant laws.
