The Punjab Agriculture Department is set to begin accepting applications for the second phase of the Green Tractor Scheme in August, officials confirmed during a departmental meeting held on Wednesday.
The program will offer 10,000 locally manufactured tractors between 50 to 65 horsepower, each with a Rs. 500,000 subsidy. An additional 10,000 higher-powered tractors (75HP and above)—both locally produced and imported—will also be distributed, with each unit receiving a Rs. 1 million subsidy.
The meeting was chaired by Provincial Agriculture Minister Ashiq Kirmani, who reviewed the department’s key initiatives and progress updates.
During the session, officials also reported that 98% of construction work has been completed on four Model Agriculture Malls, with 10 more malls planned for the next phase of development. These centers aim to provide farmers with centralized access to agricultural services and equipment.
Additionally, the second phase of the Agriculture Graduates Internship Program will see the hiring of 2,000 more interns, offering fresh graduates hands-on training and field experience to strengthen the sector’s workforce.
