Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its first-ever FE variant, delivering improvements in design, display, and internals while also offering a more affordable entry point into the foldable segment.
Design and Display
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a slimmer build at 13.7mm when folded and 6.5mm when unfolded, compared to 14.9mm and 6.9mm on its predecessor. It uses Armor Aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection and carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. The cover screen has expanded to a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display (120Hz, 1,048 x 948 px) with ultra-thin 1.25mm bezels and 2,600 nits peak brightness.
In contrast, the Flip 7 FE retains the older 3.4-inch cover screen and 6.7-inch main display found on the Flip 6. The FE model also features the same durable materials and IP48 rating, but comes in only two colors: Black and White. The standard Flip 7 is offered in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and an online-exclusive Mint.
Internals and Software
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is powered by the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. It runs on One UI 8 based on Android 16 and introduces enhanced features for the FlexWindow, including Google Gemini AI, Now Bar, and expanded app compatibility.
The Flip 7 FE uses the older Exynos 2400 processor, with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. It also runs Android 16 with One UI 8 but lacks some of the newer software enhancements optimized for the updated cover screen.
Cameras
Both devices are equipped with a 50MP main camera (f/1.8, 1.0µm, OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP selfie camera on the inner display. The Flip 7 supports 10-bit HDR video recording and new features like real-time filter previews on the cover screen, Auto Zoom for hands-free recording, and manual adjustments via Zoom Slider.
The Flip7 FE shares the same camera hardware but lacks support for HDR video recording and does not include the advanced cover display camera features found on the Flip 7.
Battery and Pricing
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 carries a 4,300 mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging, capable of reaching 50% charge in 30 minutes. It also supports wireless charging. Samsung claims the phone can deliver up to 31 hours of video playback, thanks to the improved energy efficiency of the Exynos 2500 chip.
The Flip 7 FE includes a 4,000 mAh battery with the same charging options but lower power efficiency due to the older chipset. It offers a more accessible price point, starting at $900 for the 8GB/128GB model and $960 for the 8GB/256GB variant. The Flip 7 starts at $1,100 for the 12GB/256GB model and goes up to $1,220 for the 12GB/512GB version.
