BYD Pakistan is set to launch its Shark 6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) on July 25, marking the country’s first plug-in hybrid entry in the pickup truck segment.
The vehicle, which was previously showcased at the Pakistan Auto Show in 2024, will enter a market currently dominated by conventional fuel models such as the Toyota Hilux Revo, ISUZU D-Max, and JAC T9 Hunter.
“Mark your calendars for July 25, 2025. If you’re Hungry for Adventure, this one’s for you,” BYD Pakistan said in a Facebook post.
The Shark features a shark-inspired grille with a sculpted, aerodynamic front and LED lighting systems at both ends. The pickup rides on 18-inch wheels fitted with Continental tires. Additional elements include a shark-fin antenna, roof rails, and a design language said to draw inspiration from the Ford Raptor.
Inside the cabin, the Shark offers a black and orange theme with supportive seating and a fully digital dashboard. Key tech features include a rotating touchscreen, NFC-based keyless entry, voice control, and several driver assistance tools such as blind-spot monitoring, radar-based alerts, lane-keeping assistance, and fatigue detection systems.
The vehicle is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine paired with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of 321 kW. It includes a 58 kWh battery, offering an electric-only range of 80 kilometers and a total claimed range of 800 kilometers.
Estimated fuel economy stands at 13 km per litre. The Shark also supports regenerative braking and comes with all-wheel drive capability.
