The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched the Zhundoon OPD Card, a new initiative aimed at offering free outpatient medical services to residents of the province.
The program was inaugurated on Thursday by Ehtesham Ali, Advisor to the Health Department. Initially rolled out as a pilot project, it will cover four districts: Mardan, Kohat, Malakand, and Chitral.
According to officials, the scheme includes free medical consultations, diagnostics, and essential medicines. The initiative has been launched with a Rs. 2 billion allocation and is supported by the German development agency KfW.
The Zhundoon OPD Card follows the earlier Sehat Card Plus program, which provided free inpatient treatment. Officials say the expansion into outpatient services is a major step towards broader health coverage in the province.
Citizens can check their eligibility for the Zhundoon Card by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 9930.
Authorities have described the new card as a move to make outpatient healthcare more accessible, particularly for communities in remote and underserved areas.
