Restaurant Denies Entry to Customer for Wearing National Dress

A lawyer has filed a complaint with the Consumer Court after allegedly being denied entry to a restaurant in Karachi for wearing national attire, ARY News reported.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on May 18 when Abdul Latif, a practicing lawyer, visited a private restaurant located in an upscale area of the city. He claimed that a waiter informed him food service was unavailable due to the dress code.

Latif further alleged that the restaurant manager referred to his shalwar kameez as “cheap dressing” and threatened to forcibly remove him if he made a scene. Feeling humiliated, he sent a legal notice to the restaurant. However, he says the management has not issued any response.

The matter has now been taken to the Consumer Court, where Latif is seeking legal action against the establishment for discriminatory treatment.

The incident has sparked debate on social media, with users questioning whether businesses should enforce dress codes that exclude Pakistan’s national dress. The restaurant in question has yet to publicly comment on the allegations.
