A huge increase in sugar prices has been recorded across the country, with the price crossing Rs. 200 per kg in some cities for the first time in history.
According to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the average price of sugar in the country has risen to Rs. 188.44 per kg.
According to the data, the average price of sugar increased by Rs. 3.52 per kg. Last week, this price was Rs. 184.92 per kg.
According to PBS, in major cities like Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, the price of sugar has reached as high as Rs. 200 per kg.
A review of the data shows that the price of sugar has increased not only on a weekly basis but also annually. A year ago, the average price of sugar was Rs. 145.88 per kg, posting an increase of Rs. 42.56 during the period.
