Modified Motorcycles Banned from Roads in Rawalpindi

Authorities have imposed a complete ban on the conversion of motorcycles into loader-rickshaws in the Rawalpindi division, citing safety and traffic concerns.

According to official orders, motorcycles that have been modified by attaching metal grills or wooden frames to function as goods carriers will no longer be allowed to operate.

The crackdown has been ordered across the division, with the Secretary of the Transport Authority, Excise and Taxation Department, and the Traffic Police tasked with immediate enforcement.

Only factory-manufactured loader rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws will be permitted to transport passengers or goods. The government has declared that modified motorcycles pose significant risks to road safety, especially when used on busy roads, commercial areas, and main highways.

Instructions have been issued to impound such vehicles found operating in violation of the new directive. Once seized, the motorcycles will only be returned to their owners after the loader attachments are removed.

The release of vehicles will be granted under judicial custody. Authorities have warned of strict action against continued violations, urging transporters and drivers to comply with the updated regulations.

  • Sorry to point out that tractors which are basically manufactured for agriculture purposes and in the whole western and devoloped regions are not allowed outside and specially on the roads where public transport is running and in Pakistan with collaboration of Police, Excise dept and local authorities they are running freely endangering the public life by paying bribes to all corners

  • When I came to Pakistan and noticed the modification on vehicles, like changing the fro t grill along with the bumpers, it striked me that in Pakistan no law is inforced to stop it. Suddenly all started. Where were you guys before. Poor people spend a fortune on it. Such a law could have implemented from the first day.
