In a move set to elevate travel standards, Pakistan Railways has unveiled plans to introduce dining cars, onboard kitchens, and complimentary services across selected trains, according to a report.
As part of the initiative, Pakistan Express, Karachi Express, and Millat Express will soon be upgraded with dedicated dining coaches. At the same time, Jaffar Express will be equipped with an in-train kitchen facility.
Passengers traveling on railcars between Lahore and Rawalpindi—including Subak Raftar, Subak Kharam, Islamabad Express, and Rawal Express—can look forward to receiving free onboard services, enhancing the overall journey experience.
To ensure smooth implementation, the Railway Headquarters has floated a tender to outsource catering services. Interested catering firms have been invited to submit technical and financial proposals by August 5, 2025.
This development is part of Pakistan Railways’ broader efforts to modernize train operations and provide more convenient, comfortable, and quality travel options, particularly for long-distance and intercity passengers.
