Pakistan Railways has decided to hand over the management of 11 trains to private companies once again. The move aims to enhance passenger services and boost the department’s income.
The list of trains slated for privatization includes Hazara Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Millat Express, Rawal Express, Badar Express, Ghauri Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Mohenjodaro Passenger.
Railway officials have announced that interested companies can submit their bids until August 12, with technical proposals set to be opened on the same day.
In a separate move to enhance travel standards, Pakistan Railways announced plans to introduce dining cars, onboard kitchens, and complimentary services on several major trains. Pakistan Express, Karachi Express, and Millat Express will soon feature dedicated dining coaches, while Jaffar Express is set to receive an in-train kitchen facility.
Passengers traveling between Lahore and Rawalpindi on trains such as Subak Raftar, Subak Kharam, Islamabad Express, and Rawal Express can also expect free onboard services to improve their journey experience.
To support these upgrades, the Railway Headquarters has issued a tender for outsourcing catering services, with interested firms invited to submit their proposals by August 5, 2025.

Will it improve quality of service and cleanliness. Improved sanitation facility highly desirable
So what’s the point of taxes
There is a useful advice on my part to lay double railway tracker from Lahore to LalaMusa just 80 miles. The 90 percent train cross problem will be solved. And journey from Rawalpindi would be reduced from 5 hours to 3 and half hour . The second track should be strong enough to run train at 160 km hr. Cost is low benefits are high
This is again a wrong decision because it has been made twice or thrice in the past and ultimately proved to be a failure compared to expectations or due to the with drawl of private investors because of bureaucratic hurdles in terms of priority they faced.
Railway can be improved on purely merit based recruitments and promotions no involvement of bureaucracy, political parties or even role of Union.
Myself has more than 50 years of travelling via railway Lahore -Karachi-Lahore sector average twice in a year.
A0A. It’s Entire Negligence 0F Joint Ruling Political Parties, to Hand 0vering Railways Management to Private Sector 0nce Again.
… It’s Failed More than Twice in Past.
Seen Really the Present Government Based 0N Laanti Harami and Bagarati Politions.
… All these Politions Should Be Hanged Till Death with 0ut Any Juditial Enquiries.

How will the Ministry of Railways guarantee safe passage, when the track is in such a bad condition. How will any private party be held responsible for safety, when such a underlying condition persists, with further deterioration. Sad.
