RDA Takes Major Decision to Protect Green Areas in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced a forthcoming ban on housing projects within green belt zones, in a move aimed at curbing unauthorized development and safeguarding the city’s green spaces.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza shared the update on Sunday, adding that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed with the Land Information and Management System (LIMS) to support this initiative.

This collaboration will enhance urban planning through improved data sharing, land monitoring, and governance. According to the RDA chief, the partnership is a step toward smart, sustainable urban development, enabling better oversight of land use and planning decisions in Rawalpindi.

The agreement with LIMS will bring in advanced digital tools for land management, allowing for greater transparency and more efficient monitoring of development activities. It also supports RDA’s goal of integrating technology-driven solutions into city planning to improve services and quality of life for citizens.

This effort is part of RDA’s broader strategy to promote responsible urban growth, protect natural zones, and ensure that future development aligns with long-term environmental and planning standards.
