Govt Allocates Rs 10.2 Billion for Water and Sanitation Development in Lahore

The Punjab government has released Rs 10.2 billion to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore for ongoing infrastructure development under the Lahore Development Project. The funds were approved by the finance department and allocated at Rs. 1 billion per zone across multiple areas of the city.

Machinery and Water Storage Projects

The released funds are intended for key upgrades across Lahore, including the construction of new water tanks and the procurement of advanced machinery for different zones. These improvements are aimed at strengthening water supply, drainage, and sanitation infrastructure across the city.

Following the fund release, the finance department formally communicated with the Accountant General’s office to initiate the transfer. This administrative step allows WASA to proceed with purchasing essential equipment and executing pending construction work.

WASA had earlier requested the Punjab government for the immediate release of funds to prevent delays in its ongoing development activities. The timely disbursement now enables the agency to continue critical infrastructure upgrades without disruption.

In a separate development, the government has issued a notice and sought a detailed report from The Punjab School following a recent swimming pool accident. Relevant authorities have been directed to conduct a thorough inquiry.
