Govt to Give Free E-Bikes to Students

The federal government will distribute free electric bikes to outstanding students from all educational boards in Pakistan, including the Federal Board.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced that the federal government will provide electric rickshaws and loaders to unemployed individuals across Pakistan as part of a broader initiative to promote employment and sustainability.

Focus on Green Mobility and Economic Uplift

Chairing a high-level meeting to review the government’s electric mobility support program, the prime minister emphasized the long-term economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles (EVs). He stated that shifting to EVs would reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuel, saving billions of dollars in foreign exchange, while also aiding environmental conservation and boosting the local manufacturing sector.

The government will also distribute electric bikes to top-performing students from educational boards nationwide. Shehbaz Sharif directed that all support schemes should prioritize economically disadvantaged segments of society and ensure transparent distribution mechanisms.

Ecosystem for EV Manufacturing and Maintenance

The prime minister instructed relevant departments to create a comprehensive ecosystem for the production and maintenance of EVs. He called for third-party validation of the vehicle distribution methods and urged authorities to launch an awareness campaign to educate the public about the government’s electric vehicle assistance programs.

Federal agencies, including the Federal Board of Revenue, will collaborate to develop a roadmap for the rollout of these initiatives. The scheme is expected to be a significant step toward green mobility and inclusive economic support in Pakistan.

  • They should distribute bikes among private university students. Majority of students of private university are not wealthy they are mostly lower middle class and are unable to buy motorbike. Government should add the names of private universities in their list too. I hope they will understand the situation soon and we expect good from this government especially CM Maryam Nawaz based on her ongoing good performance.

    • Exactly. Govt. Uni students have less fee to pay as compared to private ones. Private students should be given such facilities but they give laptops, scholarship opportunities and bikes to only govt. Uni students even tho their little amount of fees is already a facility.

The rulers n WAPDA enjoying free units squeezing/sucking consumers blood. When 200 exceeds by 1 unit next 6 months common consumers continue suffering at higher rates. Is this not oppression n cruelty? They wd inshaAllah be accountable to Allah swt.
