A resolution has been presented in the Punjab Assembly proposing a complete ban on mobile phone usage by students in both public and private schools throughout the province, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.
The resolution was introduced by Rahila Khadim Hussain, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). It raises serious concerns about the adverse effects of mobile phones and social media on the mental and ethical development of children.
In her submission to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat, Hussain emphasized that children represent the country’s future, and it is the state’s responsibility to guide their mental, moral, and social development in the right direction.
The resolution reads, “In this digital age, mobile phones and social media are causing significant harm to children’s cognitive and moral well-being.” It calls on the government to treat this matter with urgency and implement a comprehensive strategy to tackle what it terms a growing societal issue.
As an immediate step, the resolution suggests a ban on the use of mobile phones by students during school hours across the province. It also urges the government to introduce laws limiting children’s access to social media platforms, aiming to shield them from harmful digital content and distractions.
If passed, the resolution could mark a significant shift in how educational institutions approach technology in the classroom environment.

What nonsense is this if we stop children from using phones completely then how would they develop and blend in with the growing society it is true that phones have adverse effects on children but we should make it that they can use it for education and finding work and even give then some entertainment using it
Bro, I think you have read the post incorrectly, because this post is saying they proposed the ban in schools not in houses 😂, that’s why it don’t make sense because no school allows use of phone in class except some public ones.
They only want to do it cause they know people are exposing corruption and these kids are the future voters so they want to hide the corruption
Then they will only bi allowed to use it in home not it schools
There should be a restriction on using social media during school hours. Banning the use of mobile phones as a whole is not ideal. Countries from all over the world are integrating technology into education but we are trying to keep students as away as possible from online learning.
Actually Right now AI is growing significantly faster than anything in tech. ChatGPT like ai bots are now being used which is first of all a great tool to use. So if students use that to gain knowledge and tear down any concept in simple words rather than asking form a teacher (who is lazy and gets frustrated and doesn’t even explain very clearly) , that will be definitely good tho. So Instead, government should pass the law which makes mandatory to implement such a thing called as “firewall” in all schools and it is easy. As a studdent of A levels (2nd year) speaking, I have a vast knowledge in it.
In light of growing concerns regarding the exposure of students to unethical and culturally inappropriate content on digital platforms, I respectfully recommend that the Government of Punjab adopt a targeted and balanced approach. Rather than implementing a blanket ban on mobile phone usage among students, the focus should be on regulating access to specific social media content that contradicts our Islamic values and national culture—particularly content involving vulgarity, non-religious material, and dance videos. The government should consider working with platform providers to restrict or filter harmful content while promoting educational, cultural, and Islamic resources. Additionally, algorithms and digital policies can be tailored to ensure that when users—especially youth—access platforms like TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram, they are first exposed to content that is informative, value-driven, and culturally appropriate. This strategy would not only preserve our moral and cultural integrity but also enable students to benefit from technology in a safe and productive manner.
