Cybersecurity audit of 15 federal government ministries, divisions, and attached departments has been completed under the “Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan (Phase-I)” project, an IT Ministry document revealed.
The initiative is designed to enhance the country’s digital resilience, protect critical infrastructure, and safeguard digital assets from rising cyber threats.
The document states that Rs. 1,076.17 million, representing 60 percent of the total allocation of Rs. 1,798.864 million, has been utilized so far.
For the fiscal year 2025-26, an additional allocation of Rs. 250 million has been approved to continue the setup of technical infrastructure, including the National Security Operation Center, forensics facilities, and screening labs.
According to the document, more than 800 cyberattacks and incidents have been addressed so far, with the establishment of the National Computer Emergency Response Team (nCERT) playing a pivotal role in cyber threat monitoring, detection, and incident response.
The project also emphasizes the development of national cybersecurity policies, issuance of guidelines, and international cooperation for intelligence sharing.
The IT Ministry document highlights that 60 cybersecurity advisories have been issued to government ministries, divisions, attached departments, the general public, and private organizations. In addition, 15 cybersecurity policy guidelines have been implemented, while 20 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with universities, think tanks, and cybersecurity firms to improve collaboration and awareness.
According to the document, over 15 workshops, hackathons, and bootcamps have been organized jointly, while 56 training sessions were delivered to federal and provincial government institutions. Another 12 specialized training sessions have been acquired to strengthen cybersecurity expertise.
Several public awareness initiatives, such as the ABC Program, CyberSecureGov, CyberSafety for Everyone, and Junior Cyber Superheroes, have also been launched to promote secure digital practices.
