German Consulate in Karachi Suspends Visa Services for Non-EU Citizens

The German Consulate General in Karachi has halted all services for non-EU citizens until further notice.

A statement posted on social media confirmed that all visa appointments for non-EU nationals have been cancelled. The notice also appears on the consulate’s official website.

“All confirmed visa appointments for non-EU citizens for an undisclosed time are cancelled and will not be rescheduled,” the consulate said. “Applicants will need to register again via our appointment system.”

No specific reason or date for resumption has been provided.

Meanwhile, the UK government recently introduced e-visas for Pakistani nationals applying under student and worker categories.

The British High Commission in Islamabad stated that physical visa documents are being replaced with digital proof of immigration status, known as an e-visa.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott confirmed on X that the facility will apply to “most students and workers applying for more than 6 months.”

The development follows the signing of the Trade Dialogue Mechanism Agreement between Pakistan and the UK, as well as the formation of a UK-Pakistan Business Advisory Council.
