Mikaeel Ali Baig Makes Another Statement on ITF Calendar With Triple Crown in Montego Bay

In a fortnight that may well come to define the early arc of his promising career, Pakistan’s rising tennis sensation Mikaeel Ali Baig stamped his authority on the international stage by clinching back-to-back ITF J30 singles titles in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Just 15 years old, Mikaeel delivered a commanding statement of intent across two gruelling weeks, outlasting seasoned junior competitors from across the world.

After sweeping the ITF titles last week, Mikaeel Ali Baig powered to his second ITF singles title with a gruelling win over Canada’s Antoine Tardif. After getting the better of his opponent in the semifinals last time around, the latest final proved to be a bit more challenging.

Mikaeel started strong, taking the opening set 6-2 with authority, but the Canadian returned with a vengeance, racing to a 5-2 lead in the second. What followed was a stunning display of resilience from the young Pakistani, who reeled off four straight games to push the set into a tiebreak. There, Mikaeel found another gear, dominating 7-3 to seal his second singles trophy (6-2, 7-6) in as many weeks.

The singles triumph eased the hurt from losing a doubles final earlier in the day, after Mikaeel Ali Baig and Ross Johnson’s pairing was beaten 6-4, 2-6, 10-2 by Antoine Tardif and Tristian Bradu of the USA.

These three titles mark the most successful stretch of Mikaeel’s career to date and offer a tantalising glimpse into what may lie ahead. At just 15, he’s already making headlines on the ITF circuit—a stage that has previously launched the careers of global stars.

Mikaeel’s rise is particularly significant given Pakistan’s limited history of success in junior tennis at the international level. His achievements bring a renewed sense of optimism to the country’s tennis ecosystem, long reliant on isolated individual brilliance.

As the junior tour heads into its latter half of the season, Mikaeel Ali Baig will surely be a name to watch—not just for Pakistan, but for the global tennis community. With poise beyond his years and a game that’s rounding into shape, his Montego Bay triple could just be the beginning.
