Here’s Why Internet is Slow Across Pakistan

Internet users across Pakistan are currently experiencing slowdowns and service disruptions, with multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including Nayatel and PTCL, confirming widespread connectivity issues.

According to an email issued by Nayatel’s Technical Assistance Center, the disruptions come from multiple issues affecting both international traffic and access to several key services:

  1. Eastbound Internet Traffic: Slower speeds and unstable connections are linked to one of Nayatel’s upstream providers, affecting international traffic routes.
  2. Microsoft Services Outage: Apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive are also experiencing nationwide outages.
  3. Cloudflare Hosted Services: Several websites and applications that rely on Cloudflare’s infrastructure are either slow or completely unreachable.

Nayatel also clarified that these issues are separate but still overlapping, which has made the problem worse for users across the country. Other ISPs have also reported similar issues, indicating that the disruptions are not isolated to a single provider.

Technical teams from ISPs and affected service providers are actively working to diagnose and resolve the problems. However, as of now, no official timeline has been provided for when these issues will be fixed.
