The Islamabad’s Excise and Taxation Department recently unveiled plans to implement a vehicle registration system modeled after the United States.
Reportedly, Punjab is set to follow suit as new changes are being introduced in Punjab regarding vehicle registration and the issuance of number plates.
According to a report, the Excise Department has decided that number plates will now be issued directly in the name of the vehicle owner, while plates registered under the vehicle itself will no longer be allowed.
According to the Excise Department, vehicle registration will now be linked to the owner’s identity, which will help improve security and make it easier to identify vehicle owners.
Under the current system, the number plate was associated with the vehicle. However, under the new system, it will be registered directly to the owner’s name. If you sell your vehicle, you will need to remove your current number plate and keep it, while the new buyer will have to obtain a new number plate or apply for a personalized one.
Just adopt their flag as well . Won’t matter adding another star .

Control your urge for extreme westernization. Certain steps recently announced like making Islamabad cashless, introduction of M tokens to enter Islamabad, and such others are not implementable and are bound to backfire. You are still decades behind those countries. They took years to create a conducive atmosphere for implementation of certain steps. We are still living in Tora Bora and consumption of donkey meat has made our minds further numb.

Very silly idea. They should adopt a UK system. UK system was developed by scientists who have acknowledged the white number plate at the front with black letters and the yellow number plates at the bank with black letters are very visible at night. They are also a particular size that allows people to see it at 300 yards away. Lettering on the Pakistani number plates are too damn small!
Will add security as well as enhance Govt revenue. Any system whether US or UK style of registration should be workable in society with low literacy like ours. All these activities are eye wash, our real problems are lawlessness, injustice, lack of freedom of speach, ineffective health care facilities, declining literacy level, rule by force, joblessness etc, etc so many things to do but we are on show off activities.
