Authorities in Murree have ordered the imposition of Section 144 for three days during the Independence Day celebrations due to security concerns.
According to a notification issued by Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the measure will be in effect on August 12, 13, and 14, 2025, to maintain public order and prevent any untoward incidents. Entry to Mall Road and GPO Chowk during these dates will be restricted to families only.
The notification states that the decision was made on the recommendation of the District Intelligence Committee in its meeting held on July 30, considering the potential for large crowds and disorder during the festivities.
As per the order, Section 144 will remain in force, and violators will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
