PAF Group Captain Reportedly Killed While Stopping Alleged Kidnapping Near Bahria University Islamabad

Pakistan Air Force Group Captain Asim Tariq was reportedly shot dead near Shaheen Chowk in Islamabad after he tried to intervene in an alleged abduction attempt.

The incident took place within the limits of Margalla Police Station, opposite Bahria University.

According to media reports, an armed man was allegedly trying to force a woman into a vehicle. A heated confrontation was already taking place between them.

Group Captain Asim Tariq, son of Muhammad Tariq, was passing through the area at the time.

After seeing the woman being forced into the vehicle, he reportedly stepped forward on humanitarian grounds and tried to separate the two sides.

The armed suspect then became enraged and opened fire.

A bullet struck Group Captain Asim Tariq. He died from his injuries at the scene.

His body was later shifted to a Pakistan Air Force hospital.

Police reached the area shortly after receiving information about the shooting.

Margalla Police Station Additional SHO Siddiq and duty officer Naveed arrived with a heavy police contingent.

Officers immediately took the affected woman into protective custody.

However, the armed suspects escaped from the scene in their vehicle.

Police later set up checkpoints in different areas and launched a search operation to arrest those involved.

Authorities had not announced any arrests at the time of the reports.
