The Punjab government has decided to partially reopen educational institutions following consultations with all stakeholders, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on Wednesday.
According to the minister, classes for grades 9 and 10, as well as Intermediate, O Level, and A Level students, will resume from August 18 in both public and private institutions. Meanwhile, classes for grades 1 to 8 will remain suspended until August 31.
Punjab had earlier extended the summer vacation for all schools until August 31 due to the ongoing heatwave. However, the move faced resistance from private schools, which argued that the extended closure would disrupt the academic calendar and affect exam preparation.
The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association had criticized the Punjab government’s decision to extend summer vacations until August 31, calling it unnecessary and harmful to students’ education.

Why is Punjab Government disrupting students crucial part of academics with weather issues suddenly. Pakistan is 78 years old and students have been under no environmental threat since inception .Why suddenly now? in this era of modern times, govt is showing extraordinary concern?. All the elite schools have air-conditioning but we were educated without air conditioning in the schools since inception and survived more tough than the present day student! KPK n Sindh schools are surviving, so will Punjab schools. Don’t disrupt classes unnecessarily and frequently !

There is need to revise academic calendar. Exam should be in those months when there is no severe weather conditions/power supply issues.Yes drug test should be conducted too at every level school, colleges n in universities

I don’t know but where I live the weather is not that hot I mean Rawalpindi and if considering weather that was foolish step from government of punjab or may there’s was another reason for vacation which can’t be told to civilian for safety reasons
The government decision to extend vacations was correct because student body is not satisfied with schools way of teaching students so they decided to take tutions which had improved their results reopening schools does not effect students

This decision is illogical and irrational. The weather is pleasant since July 15th. Federal schools are open since 1st of August. They don’t have heat problem.
